Boundaries vs. Limits (why I say “limits” in January)

January is when people start saying, “Set boundaries!”

And yes-boundaries are important. But for many of us, the word “boundary” feels like:

conflict

distance

drama

being misunderstood

having to explain ourselves

That’s why I prefer limits.

Limits feel like:

capacity

honesty

self-respect

protection

maintenance

A limit is simply:

“This is what I can do without losing myself”

Limits are not restrictions-they’re the way you keep your crown from falling off

Start small. Small limits actually stick.
1) Emotional limit (choose one)
I will pause before reacting when I feel triggered.
I will stop explaining myself to people committed to misunderstanding me.
I will not abandon my needs to keep the peace.
